T.W.I.G. 12/8/13

Sorry for missing last week, but it was a slow news week and also Thanksgiving here in the U.S. so I sort of forgot about the T.W.I.G. by the time the weekend rolled around. But no worries, we are back! Let’s get into the news. VGX was on Saturday (formerly SpikeTVs Video Game Awards) and some decent news came out of there.

The News:

• Nintendo has confirmed that Cranky Kong will be a playable character for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
• Telltale Games has announced 2 new games. Tales From The Borderlands, an adventure game set in the world of Borderlands from Gearbox. And a series set in the Game of Thrones universe.
• Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will be coming to PS4 and XboxOne next year. This is a “rebuilt” version of the most recent game in the Tomb Raider franchise.
• Destiny has a release date, September 9th, 2014.
• The PS4 beta for Final Fantasy 14 will start on February 22nd, 2014 and the game will release in April of 2014.

Lastly the news of a death of someone related to the world of gaming, actor Danny Wells who played Luigi in the 1980s “Super Mario Super Show!” died at age 72. ‘Captain’ Lou Albano who played Mario on the show died in 2009 at the age of 76. If you’ve never seen the show it’s pretty cheesy but still kinda fun. There are episodes on Netflix streaming so go check it out.
